Traditionally you'd either pay a DJ to stitch songs together or wrestle with complicated audio editing software. You don't need either. With Mehndley you search for songs, keep only the best parts, blend them, and download one seamless MP3 you can play from any phone or speaker.
What you'll need
- A laptop or phone with a browser (a laptop is comfier for trimming).
- A rough idea of the songs you want — 5 to 12 works great for an entrance medley.
- About 10–15 minutes.
Step 1 — Search and add your songs
Open the app and search each song by name or artist. Tap Add to Timeline and it loads into your workspace. Add them in roughly the order you want them to play — you can always reorder later by dragging the grip handle.
Step 2 — Trim to the best part of each song
This is the single most important step. Nobody wants a medley of full songs — you want the hook: the chorus or the drop everyone recognises. Play the waveform, find where the good part starts, and set your Mark In and Mark Out points (or drag the trim handles). Aim for 20–40 seconds per song so the energy keeps moving.
Step 3 — Choose how songs transition
You have two ways to move between songs:
- Crossfade — one song blends smoothly into the next. Keep it short (2–4 seconds) for a tight, professional blend.
- Relay hook — a short signature clip (like a dhol pattern) plays between every pair of songs. This is what gives desi wedding medleys that "live DJ" feel, and you can add a beat of silence for a dramatic pause before the next drop.
Step 4 — Order for energy
A medley is a mini DJ set. Start with something recognisable, build the energy, and save your biggest song for the peak. If it's an entrance, the last 20 seconds should be your loudest, most hype moment — that's when everyone's clapping.
Step 5 — Preview, then export
Hit Preview to hear the whole thing end-to-end. Tweak any cut that feels abrupt, then Export to download a single high-quality MP3. Volume levelling is handled automatically, so a quiet song won't suddenly get drowned out by a loud one.
Pro tips
- Keep clips short. When in doubt, cut it shorter — momentum beats completeness.
- Use the relay hook sparingly. A dhol stinger between songs is great; between every song it can get repetitive. Try it at the start and end only.
- Save your project. You can come back and re-export anytime, and share a link so a friend or your DJ can pick up where you left off.
